In 2018, the duo of RG Collaborative and LANCER+BEEBE was
selected by the Ball State Board of Trustees to design a new
Multicultural Center at the heart of campus. The project will
provide the same functions and sense of belonging as the current
Multicultural Center, in addition to allowing underrepresented
students to see themselves reflected in the space, facilitating
engagement around multicultural issues, reflecting the university’s
commitment to inclusive excellence, and enhancing the campus
master plan. The 10,000 square foot facility will complement
the existing campus via materials and form, while taking on
modern influences such as metal canopies at both entrances.
The first floor will contain public meeting spaces, a café, and a
monumental stair to the second floor where offices will be located
alongside a library. The Multicultural Center will grant students,
faculty, and visitors excellent views of campus from many
vantage points. The center is expected to open Summer 2021.
